What Finsplore Connect shares

What an AI assistant can see when you connect it, where your data goes, and what is never shared.

Coming soon

Finsplore Connect is coming soon. This guide explains how it will work. It isn't available to use yet.

When you connect an assistant, you are choosing to share some of your Finsplore data with another company. This article explains what is shared and what happens to it.

What is shared

What an assistant can see depends on the permissions you give it:

  • See your finances: your accounts and balances, transactions and categories, budgets, goals, net worth, debts, assets, insurance and tax planning figures.
  • Make changes for you: what the assistant suggests creating or changing. Nothing is made until you approve it, unless you turned that off.
  • Delete things: what the assistant suggests deleting. Deletions always wait for your approval.
  • Remember notes: short notes the assistant saves and reads about you, shared with every app you connect.

The assistant only receives what it asks for in answer to your questions, but it can ask for any of the data your permissions cover.

Where your data goes

Once Finsplore sends data to an assistant, it is handled under that company's terms, not Finsplore's. It may be stored outside Australia. Check the privacy policy and settings of the assistant you use, including whether your conversations are used to train its models.

Finsplore shows this on the screen where you approve a connection: Your data will be shared with the assistant, It is then handled under their terms and may be stored outside Australia.

If Finsplore cannot verify an app, the screen shows an Unverified app badge and a warning. Only approve apps you added yourself.

For how Finsplore handles Finsplore Connect, see the Finsplore privacy policy.

What is not shared

  • Data from your bank connection. Bank data that came to Finsplore through the Consumer Data Right is not shared with assistants. It was shared with Finsplore under your consent to Finsplore, not to the assistant.
  • Your Finsplore password and sign-in details.
  • Anything from another person's account.

Data you added yourself, such as imported statements, is covered by the permissions above.

Custom categories

A connected assistant can create, rename and add subcategories to your custom categories only if your plan includes custom categories (Early access, Plus and Pro). On the Free plan these tools are not offered to the assistant at all. Merging and deleting categories always wait for your approval in Approvals. See Change a transaction's category.

Category suggestions

A connected assistant can suggest a category for transactions it imports or edits. A suggestion never overrides a category you set yourself, or your rules, and nothing learns from it until you accept it. See Review categories suggested by connected apps.

You stay in control

  • You choose the permissions each time you connect, and you can use fewer than the assistant asks for.
  • Every request is recorded under Activity.
  • You can disconnect any assistant at any time. See See activity and disconnect an assistant.
