What is Finsplore Connect?

Coming soon. How Finsplore Connect will let an AI assistant read your Finsplore data and suggest changes, and what it will and will not be able to do.

Coming soon

Finsplore Connect is coming soon. This guide explains how it will work. It isn't available to use yet.

Finsplore Connect will let an AI assistant you already use, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Claude or any MCP assistant, work with your Finsplore data. You'll ask the assistant a question in its own app, and it will look up the answer in your Finsplore account.

Finsplore Connect is separate from Ask Finsplore, the assistant inside Finsplore. Connect will be for assistants that live in other apps.

How it will work

  1. You'll add Finsplore to your assistant, using the address https://api.finsplore.io/mcp (available when Finsplore Connect launches).
  2. Finsplore will ask you to sign in and choose what the assistant may do.
  3. The assistant will then be able to do only what you allowed, and every request will be recorded where you can see it.

Any assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) will be able to connect. This is the standard most AI apps now use to connect to other services.

What an assistant can do

What it can do will depend on the permissions you choose when you connect it:

Permission on the screenWhat it allows
See your financesRead your accounts, transactions, budgets, goals and net worth. This one is always included.
Make changes for youSuggest new or updated budgets and goals, import transactions from text, and edit transactions you already have.
Delete thingsSuggest deleting goals, transactions and similar. Every deletion still waits for your approval.
Remember notesSave and read short notes, so every app you connect knows your preferences.

An assistant will be able to read data, such as "What did I spend on groceries last month?". It can also suggest a change, such as "Create a $400 monthly grocery budget".

Changes wait for you

When an assistant suggests a change, nothing will happen yet. Finsplore will hold the suggestion until you approve it. You'll approve or reject it in Finsplore. See Approve or reject changes an assistant suggests.

When you connect an assistant that can make changes, you'll also see Require my approval for every change, which will be on by default. If you turn it off, everyday changes to a single item, such as editing one existing transaction, will run straight away. Bigger changes will still wait for you in Finsplore. This includes deleting things, changing many items at once, and creating or changing accounts.

Finsplore has no way for an assistant to delete your account or erase all your data. Finsplore still cannot move your money. See Can Finsplore move my money?

What an assistant cannot do

  • Move money or make payments.
  • Delete your account or erase your data.
  • Read bank data that came to Finsplore through the Consumer Data Right. That data is not shared with assistants. See What Finsplore Connect shares.
  • See anything you did not allow, or anything belonging to another person.
  • Keep working after you disconnect it. Disconnecting stops it on its very next request.

Before you start

When Connect is available, it will be its own section in the website menu, under Assistant, not in Settings. In the app, it will be under Settings and then Connected AI. Connect will appear only once it is available for your account. If you cannot see it, it is not turned on for you yet.

What is in Connect

On the website, Connect will have these tabs:

TabWhat it is for
OverviewA quick look at today's calls, errors and anything waiting for you.
