Connect ChatGPT to Finsplore

How you will add Finsplore to ChatGPT as a custom connector when Finsplore Connect launches, and what to check first.

Coming soon

Finsplore Connect is coming soon. This guide explains how it will work. It isn't available to use yet.

When Finsplore Connect is available, ChatGPT will be able to connect to Finsplore through its support for custom MCP servers. OpenAI controls which plans can add one.

For reference, see OpenAI's article, Connecting custom MCP servers in ChatGPT.

Before you start

  • Check that Connect shows in your Finsplore menu, under Assistant.
  • Check that you are on ChatGPT on the web, on a Business, Enterprise or Edu plan. OpenAI does not offer this on Plus or Pro plans. On a work or school workspace, an admin may need to allow it first.
  • The address you will give ChatGPT is: https://api.finsplore.io/mcp (available when Finsplore Connect launches)

Connect ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins in the left list.
  2. Click Add (a dropdown at the top right), then choose Add custom MCP server. You do not need developer mode.
  3. Fill in the form. Enter a Name, such as Finsplore, and a Description. Paste the address above into Connection (Server URL). Set Authentication to OAuth.
  4. Tick I understand and want to continue in the risk box, then click Create as a plugin.
  5. ChatGPT shows Connect Finsplore. Click Continue to Finsplore.
  6. Sign in to Finsplore if you are asked to. Finsplore shows what ChatGPT is asking to do. Choose what it may do, then click Approve.

When ChatGPT suggests a change to your data, it asks Allow once first. Then, if the change needs you, Finsplore holds it until you approve it there. See Approve or reject changes an assistant suggests.

Check that it works

Ask ChatGPT a question about your money, for example "What is my net worth in Finsplore?". Then open Connect in Finsplore (under Assistant in the menu). ChatGPT is listed under Apps.
