Finsplore

Create an access token

Make a personal access token for an assistant or tool that cannot sign in through your browser.

Coming soon

Finsplore Connect is coming soon. This guide explains how it will work. It isn't available to use yet.

Most assistants connect by sending you to Finsplore to sign in. Some tools, such as Claude Code or a script, cannot do that, or you may prefer not to. For these, you'll be able to create an access token: a long code that lets one tool use Finsplore Connect with the permissions you give it.

An access token works like a password for that tool. Anyone who has it can do what you allowed, until it expires or you delete it.

Create a token

  1. On the Finsplore website, open Connect in the menu (under Assistant).
  2. Under Access tokens, create a new token.
  3. Enter a Name that tells you where it will be used, such as Claude Code on my laptop.
  4. Under What it may do, choose the permissions. Choose only what the tool needs.
  5. Choose Expires after: 7, 30 or 90 days.
  6. Click Create token.
  7. If Finsplore asks you to sign in again, do that. It does this because a token gives lasting access.
  8. Copy your token and keep it somewhere safe, such as a password manager.
  9. Click I have copied it.

Finsplore shows the token once. After you close the window, you cannot see it again. If you lose it, delete it and create a new one.

Tokens start with fsp_. You can have up to 20 active tokens.

Use a token with Claude Code

Replace YOUR_TOKEN with your token:

claude mcp add --transport http finsplore https://api.finsplore.io/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"

This address works once Finsplore Connect launches.

The window that shows your new token also shows this command with your token already filled in.

Delete a token

  1. Open Connect in the menu (under Assistant).
  2. Find the token under Access tokens and click its delete button.
  3. Confirm. Anything using the token stops working straight away. This cannot be undone.
