Connect Claude to Finsplore
How you will add Finsplore to Claude on the web, in the desktop app, or in Claude Code when Finsplore Connect launches.
Coming soon
When Finsplore Connect is available, Claude will be able to connect to Finsplore as a custom connector. The steps below follow Anthropic's current instructions. Anthropic can change its menus, so if a label differs, see Anthropic's help article on custom connectors.
Before you start
- Check that Connect shows in your Finsplore menu, under Assistant.
- Have your Finsplore sign-in details ready. If you use two-factor sign-in, have your authenticator app too.
- The address you will paste is:
https://api.finsplore.io/mcp(available when Finsplore Connect launches)
Connect Claude on the web or in the desktop app
Claude on the web and Claude Desktop use the same steps, on a Free, Pro or Max plan. Free plans are limited to one custom connector. Team and Enterprise plans are supported too; see below.
- In Claude, go to Customize and then Connectors.
- Click Add, then Add custom connector.
- Enter a name, such as
Finsplore. - Paste the address above and click Add.
- Adding does not connect it. Open the Finsplore connector and click Connect.
- Finsplore opens in your browser. Sign in if you are asked to.
- Choose what Claude may do, then click Approve.
To use Finsplore in a chat, click + at the lower left of the chat, choose Connectors, and switch Finsplore on.
If you use Claude Team or Enterprise
On these plans an owner of your organisation adds the connector first, under Organization settings and then Connectors. After that, you connect it yourself: go to Customize and then Connectors, find Finsplore, and click Connect. Then sign in to Finsplore and approve it.
When Claude wants to change something
Changes need two approvals. First, Claude asks in the chat. Click Allow once to let Claude send the request to Finsplore. Then, if the change needs you, Finsplore holds it until you approve it there. See Approve or reject changes an assistant suggests.
Connect Claude Code
Claude Code connects from your terminal.
-
Run this command:
claude mcp add --transport http finsplore https://api.finsplore.io/mcp
This address works once Finsplore Connect launches.
-
In Claude Code, run
/mcp. -
Follow the prompts to sign in to the finsplore server. Your browser opens so you can sign in to Finsplore and approve it.
Finsplore's approval screen labels Claude Code as an unverified app, because it comes back to your own computer, and Connect lists it as Unverified too. This is expected, and you can go ahead if you started the connection yourself and the address at the bottom is 127.0.0.1 or localhost.
If you would rather not sign in through the browser, use an access token instead. See Create an access token. Use one or the other for the same connection. If you add a token and Finsplore rejects it, Claude Code does not fall back to the browser sign-in.
If Claude says no Finsplore connector is available, the chat may be an old one, or it may be in a different organisation. Start a new chat in the organisation where you added the connector.
Check that it works
Ask Claude something about your money, for example "What is my net worth in Finsplore?". Claude shows that it is using Finsplore. Open Connect in Finsplore. Claude is listed under Apps, and the request is under Activity.
