Set up Finsplore in 4 steps

The four steps that take you from a new account to a clear picture of your spending, with a link to the full guide for each one.

Setting up Finsplore takes four steps. Each one has its own guide if you want more detail.

Before you start

  • An email address you can open now, for the code Finsplore sends you.
  • A recent statement from your bank, downloaded from your bank's internet banking. A CSV file covering the last 3 months is a good place to start.

Create your account

Go to app.finsplore.io, click Sign up and enter your email address. Finsplore emails you a 6-digit code to confirm the address is yours. Then enter your first name and choose whether to turn on two-factor sign-in.

See Create your Finsplore account.

Import your first statement

On the Add your first account screen, click Import a statement. If you skipped it, open Accounts and click Add account. Choose your bank, drop in the statement file, check the account details and click Import.

See Import a bank statement.

Check your categories

Finsplore puts every transaction into a category, such as groceries or transport. Open Transactions and look over the list. If a transaction is in the wrong category, move it, and choose whether similar transactions should move too.

See Change a transaction's category.

Set a budget or a goal

Open Budgets and click Add budget to plan how much you want to spend in a category. Or open Goals and click New goal to start saving towards something, like a holiday or a home deposit.

See Create a budget and Create a goal.

Keep it up to date

Finsplore does not update your accounts by itself. To bring an account up to date, import a newer statement. Finsplore checks it against the transactions you already have, so overlapping dates are fine.
