Talk to the expert
How to ask a question out loud or in writing, what the assistant can answer, and what happens to your question.
Talk to the expert opens Sage, an AI assistant. Sage answers questions about Finsplore in plain language, using the articles in this Help Centre and the pages on finsplore.io, the Finsplore website. It also answers general money questions, such as how budgeting methods or offset accounts work, with general information. You can use it when you are not sure which article to open, or to ask something like "What is Finsplore?" or "Is it free?".
Open the assistant
Click Talk to the expert at the bottom right of any page, or Ask at the top of the page. You can also open search and choose Can't find it? Talk to the expert.
The assistant opens on Talk, so you can ask out loud. To type instead, choose Type at the top of the panel. Your browser remembers which one you used last.
If you cannot see the button, the assistant is not switched on at the moment. Search the Help Centre instead.
Ask out loud
- Choose Tap to talk. Your browser asks to use your microphone the first time.
- Ask your question. The assistant answers out loud and shows what you both said as text.
- Open a page under Articles used for the full steps.
- Talk over the assistant to interrupt it. Choose Mute to pause your microphone, or End call when you are done.
A call lasts up to 3 minutes. If Talk is missing, voice is switched off at the moment or your browser cannot use a microphone, and the assistant opens on Type. If your browser blocks the microphone, choose Type instead.
Type a question
- Choose Type.
- Type your question, or choose one of the suggested questions.
- Read the answer, then open the pages listed under Sources for the full steps. A page from finsplore.io opens in a new tab.
You can ask follow-up questions in the same chat. Choose New chat to start again.
What it can do
- Explain what Finsplore is, who it is for and how its features work.
- Answer common questions about Finsplore, such as the cost during early access and how your data is handled, from the Finsplore website.
- Explain everyday money topics in general terms, and point out a Finsplore feature that can help.
- Point you to the right article.
What it cannot do
- It gives general information only, not financial advice. It will not recommend a product, provider or investment, or tell you what to do with your money.
- Facts about Finsplore come from the Help Centre and finsplore.io. If they do not cover your Finsplore question, it says so and points you to Contact the Finsplore team.
- It cannot see your account. It does not know your balances, goals or transactions, and it cannot change anything in Finsplore.
- It can make mistakes. Check the pages under Sources or Articles used before you act on an answer.
Never type or say your banking password, a one-time code or a full card number to the assistant. Finsplore will never ask you for them. See Stay safe from scams.
What happens to your question
To write an answer, Finsplore sends your question and the passages it found to OpenAI, an AI provider. OpenAI's servers may be outside Australia. Nothing from your Finsplore account is included, only what you type or say, so do not include personal or account details.
When you talk, your voice is sent to OpenAI, which turns it into speech and text and speaks the answer. Finsplore does not record calls or keep what you said.
To improve the Help Centre, Finsplore keeps a record of the questions people ask, whether the assistant could answer them and which pages it used. Before a question is kept, email addresses, phone numbers, card and account numbers and other long numbers are removed, and it is cut to 300 characters. The record is not linked to your Finsplore account, your name or your IP address. Questions the assistant could not answer show us which articles to write next.
Give feedback
Choose the thumbs up or thumbs down under a typed answer. We record only whether it helped and which pages it used, not what you typed.
