How your net worth is calculated
Net worth is everything you own minus everything you owe. See what counts, how to add things by hand and how to read the page.
Your net worth is everything you own minus everything you owe. Finsplore adds up your accounts and anything you enter by hand, subtracts your loans and cards, and shows the result.
What counts
- Accounts you have added. Their balances come from the statements you import, so they are only as current as your latest statement.
- Things you add by hand. Your bank does not know about a car, a property or other assets, so you add them yourself. You can also add a liability, such as a personal loan.
Assets are shown under What you own. Loans and cards are shown under What you owe, with the amounts taken away from your total. If a value you added by hand matches an account you imported, Finsplore uses the account's balance instead and tells you, so the same thing is not counted twice.
Open your net worth
- Open Accounts.
- Under your accounts, click See the full picture.
You can also click See details under Net worth on Home.
The total on Accounts is a different figure. It covers only the accounts you have added from statements, while Net worth also counts what you added by hand.
Add an asset or a liability
- On Net worth, click Add.
- Choose An asset or A liability.
- Enter a Name, choose a Category, enter the Value and choose the Currency.
- Click Add asset or Add liability.
Values you add by hand do not change by themselves. Update them when they change. To take one away, click Remove beside it.
Read the page

- What you own groups your assets by type. How fast you can reach it shows how quickly you could turn them into cash.
- Investable shows money you could put to work. You choose which assets to include.
- A chart shows how your net worth has changed over time. Earlier months are worked out from your imported transactions. Click Save today's figures to keep a copy of today's net worth, so the chart can show how it changes month to month.
- If you hold money in more than one currency, use Show in to choose the currency the figures are shown in.
